Jack Oliphant today announces his year two assault on the G40 Cup championship, once again with Yorkshire-based motor racing outfit W2R Motorsport.
Oliphant, 22-year-old student from Leeds, finished fourth overall in the 2017 standings, showing pace and ability to race at the front end of the uber-competitive G40 Cup pack. Picking up podiums at Oulton Park, Silverstone Brands Hatch and Donington (where he also achieved the lap record) Jack is very much focussed on the title in 2018.
“I’m really looking forward to this season, I feel I know the car and circuits even better now and I know I have the pace to run right at the front of the field. Winter testing has been good and we’re well prepared ahead of the first round at my home circuit, Oulton Park.
Racing at Spa this year will be a particular highlight, and I’m looking forward to showing everyone what we can do.”
Team boss, Ben Hyland, is feeling confident ahead of Jack’s second year of car racing after Jack graduating from GRDC in 2016.
“We are excited and pleased to have Jack race with us once again. A great character around the awning, Jack impresses me each time he goes out on track and I know we can win races with him this year. We have been working on consistency over winter and now the full package is there, Jack knows the circuits well and we have our usual standard of test schedules and driver development for him to benefit from.”
