Mike Jarvis is set to graduate into the GRDC+ for 2016, as part of a brand new motorsport partnership with last season’s frontrunners, want2race.
The 49 year old Entrepreneur from Southampton finished third overall in the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club series last season. A result owed, in part, to top five finishes in all eight races as well as three podium appearances.
Mike Jarvis, driver;“Iloved the GRDC car and concept from Day One and for my second season, I am looking for another top three finish in the GRDC+ Championship. I want to compete at the front as I got a taste of the podium last season and really loved the success, but I know how competitive this season will be.”
For 2016, Mike has joined forces with former Ginetta race winner and 2015 GRDC+ runner up Ben Hyland to launch a new race team and corporate events company under the already proven want2race banner.
Jarvis explained; “I’ve recently set up a new race team and corporate event company with GRDC+ and Ginetta GT5 Challenge driver Ben Hyland. We have a great set up, with a brilliant team of drivers and a well-equipped workshop near the Ginetta factory in Yorkshire. It’s going to be a great year.”
Ben Hyland, want2race co-owner added;“It's a really exciting time for want2race with Mike bringing his vast experience, success and business acumen to enable us to build on our foundations as the UK's leading novice driver competition.
want2race now offers full GRDC+ team support, testing, driver tuition, workshop and set up services at our new premises just 15 miles from the Ginetta factory. Our plan for the forthcoming months is to launch want2race's full corporate event packages, enabling more people to enjoy the Ginetta experience in a safe and professional way."
The GRDC+ provides Ginetta Racing Drivers Club graduates with an arena in which to race their road-legal Ginetta G40 Club Cars. It is also the ideal starting platform for drivers who have too much circuit racing experience for the pure entry-level Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.
In support of the British GT, the 2016 GRDC+ calendar will feature standalone races, plus outings as part of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge grid. Drivers can take in Brands Hatch, Rockingham, Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Snetterton and Donington Park.
