Paul Garstang, Security Software Sales Manager for Informatica, has today confirmed his plans to graduate from the entry-level Ginetta Racing Drivers Club, into the GRDC+ series, with the want2race team.
Having obtained his race licence in 2015, Garstang has spent an enjoyable year competing behind the wheel of his road legal Ginetta G40 Club Car, and is ready to make the next, natural step by becoming a part of the second-year GRDC+ field.
Paul Garstang, Driver,“Competing at the best motor racing circuits in the UK with the GRDC in 2015 has seen a long held dream realised. It’s been tremendous fun all year, and with Ginetta taking all the strain of looking after the car, I’ve been able to concentrate on learning the tracks and developing my racing skills.
“Stepping up to a full season in GRDC+ was an easy decision to make, particularly when I spoke with Ben Hyland and Mike Jarvis from want2race and saw the training, coaching and testing schedule they had put together to help me develop as a team driver.
“want2race finished first and second in the 2015 GRDC+ championship, and clearly bring a winning pedigree and approach, one which I’m looking forward to being part of in 2016.”
Hayley Hickmore, GRDC+ Championship Coordinator; “It’s great to see Paul stepping up from the GRDC into GRDC+. It’s a natural progression for any driver, and I’m sure he will enjoy his second year – which features even more racing – just as much as the first.”
The GRDC+ provides Ginetta Racing Drivers Club graduates with an arena in which to race their road-legal Ginetta G40 Club Cars. It is also the ideal starting platform for drivers who have too much circuit racing experience for the pure entry-level Ginetta Racing Drivers Club.
In support of the British GT, the 2016 GRDC+ calendar will feature standalone races, plus outings as part of the Ginetta GT5 Challenge grid. Drivers can take in Brands Hatch, Rockingham, Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Snetterton and Donington Park.
