After a tough GRDC weekend at Snetterton for want2race competition winner Bond To, he bounced back with a stunning drive in front of 10,000 fans at Silverstone last weekend as part of the 2017 Ginetta Racing Drivers Club Series.
An incident at turn one at Snetterton unfortunatley put Bond out of Round 2 at Snetterton, along with a blown fuse meaning is was a double DNF weekend and one to forget for Bond. A short break and a good pre race weekend test day under his belt Bond was back on fine form for the Silverstone British GT weekend with nearly 20 Ginetta G40 Club cars forming the competitive GRDC grid.
Bond qualified Third for Race 1 and made one of his trademark good starts off the line, keeping with the lead pair for the early phase of the race. As the race settled down Bond found himself in a comfortable Third, unable to catch the leaders but finishing on the Podium nearly four seconds clear of his next rival.
Race 2 would be a carbon copy of Race 1 on the grid, however an early mistake from Tom Sibley saw him spin off and allowing Bond to maximise his position on track early on pushing hard in Second place. Bond drove a comfortable race in P2, bringing the competition winner’s car home with a second fastest lap behind winner Tom Golding. Bond participates in his final Round of the GRDC season in a month’s time at Brands Hatch.
